While the extra boost of energy you get from sipping on a cup of coffee is really helpful, I have found that I often turn to coffees like this one as a means of relaxation. Don’t get me wrong – the caffeine also keeps me awake and energized, but both the routine of brewing and smells and flavors of this coffee specifically are both so relaxing. This coffee comes from the Elala lot at the Bon Qiqe Washing Station in Sidama, Ethiopia. Elala means “mountain” in the Sidama language, signifying the high elevation that coffees included in the lot are generally grown at. As I taste it, some really nice notes of white peach and sweet tea stick out to me, along with earl grey (bergamot). It has a really relaxing feel to it and reminds me of a slow summer afternoon. It’s not often that something can help you to relax and work to keep you energized at the same time, but this Elala certainly does.
